Abstract
Dementia is characterized by a loss of cognitive and intellectual abilities severe enough to impair social or occupational performance and a number of disease states can be associated with dementia, including Alzheimer¢¥s disease, multi-infarct dementia, alcoholic dementia, mood disorder, metabalic disturbances, head trauma, normal-pressure hydrocephalus, space-occupying lesions, and infections of the CNS, and a number of specific neuropathologies, including degenerative diseases.
We have experienced a female patient with dementia associated with sequelae fallowing CNS infection and reviewed the symptomatic and therapeutic aspects of dementia viral CNS infection.
